Your wedding is not the only thing that is important on the big day because the reception is where all the fun really begins. Both the wedding and the reception need to have careful planning in order for them to be a big hit and an event that is memorable for a lifetime. One of the things that needs to be determined when you are planning the reception is the music that is going to be played. Most people hire a DJ and if you don't pick the right one you may end up regretting it. Following these tips will not only save you from a ton of hassle but also make certain that your reception is a hit for all the guests in attendance.

- Give yourself plenty of time to find the right DJ. Many of the best DJs have full schedules and get booked months in advance. You should also be sure that they are willing to sign a contract so that on the big day you aren't left without any music if something comes up. It will ease your stress load to have this taken care of.

- Be sure that you make an appointment with the DJ in order to interview him or her. You can be sure that you don't get a ton of extra fees or charges that are unnecessary with the cost of the DJ. Don't hold back and be sure that if you have any questions you ask ahead of time before booking.

- Know and be aware of if you are going to have to provide your own additional equipment in addition to the charge that the DJ is imposing on you. Some DJs have their own equipment and will charge you extra to bring it while some will specify that you need to provide your own sound system. If they are willing to bring their own check how much they're charging and do a comparison analysis to see if it would be cheaper for you to rent the system on your own.

- Write everything that is discussed down. This takes away from any discrepancy. There are no questions about additional fees or charges if you have everything written down. Some things that should be discussed are the total charges that are being imposed and if there are any additional ones to work overtime.

- Save some time with the DJ if they charge by the hour. If you reception is going to be 4 hours for example which gives additional time for setting up and cleaning up, the DJ doesn't need to be there for the entire time because music doesn't need to be played the entire time.

- Consider using the band that is included with the reception hall or venue. Many times the band will be included in the price of the room rental which has the potential to save you plenty of money which can be allocated to different parts of the wedding or even the reception.
