Driving in the rain -
Driving in the rain may lead to fatal accidents; here are some tips to help you prevent them.
1.If you know before hand that you are going to drive in bad weather, make sure you are prepared. Give your vehicle for maintenance and make sure the break, accelerator, clutch etc is working fine. You do not want to get stuck in the middle of nowhere in such bad weather.
2.Keep your tires well inflated. And adjust your speed according to the wet roads.
3.Make sure your wipers are in good working condition. With heavy rain make sure your wiper blades are not overloaded, if the rain is too much try to stop at a safe spot.
4.As the rain pours it leads to slippery roads, to prevent skidding slow down and drive with your full attention on the roads.
5.Keep a distance of about 20 feet from the car ahead. It takes longer to break during such harsh weather conditions.
6.Under no circumstances should you overtake other vehicles in heavy rain. This is very risky as the roads are slippery and your vision might have been affected by the pouring rain.
Driving at night -
Driving at night to reach your destination faster due to lack of traffic may seem like a good idea. But make sure you adhere to these safety tips first.
1.Before embarking on your journey make sure that you get some sleep. You should be wide awake through out your journey and able to concentrate on the road ahead.
2.Make sure your lights are in good shape. Clean the headlights, signal lights, and taillights before you start your journey.
3.You also need to know that visibility at night will be poor, hence look out for bumps and potholes on the roads. If you want to give yourself adequate time to react you need to have full control of the car. Measure the speed you drive in and don't over speed no matter how tempting it is on an empty road.
4.Try to make a few stops for light snacks, exercise and a change of scene. If you have car trouble, pull off the road as far as possible.
5.At any given time if you are too tired to drive, stop immediately and try to get some rest.
