Nathan Harper played by Taylor Lautner is a young adult that resides with his dad and mom, Kevin and Mara . He has a constant dream, and consults a doctor, Doctor Geraldine Bennett to figure out why. One week, Taylor Lautner is partnered along side his old associate Karen Murphy on a school project about missing toddlers. Karen discovers a web site that displays precisely what the youngsters should look like as these individuals got older through age-progression technology, and Nathan (Taylor Launter) learns that a young guy named Steven Price would look similar to him. Searching in his basement, he sees the same tee that Steven is sporting in the photograph and realizes that they are the very same man.
Nathan contacts the website's owner, unknowing that he is a Serbian radical. The man reports back to his leader, Nikola Kozlow, who sends two specialists to Nathan's residence. They attack Nathan's mom and dad, who instruct him to run before getting killed. The residence is ruined. Nathan and Karen escape and attempt to get in touch the authorities, however the call is intercepted by CIA secret agent Frank Burton, who tells Nathan that they're in danger, and deploys a team to try to get him.
Just before the squad arrives, Doctor Bennett appears and tells Nathan that Burton can't be trusted. She exposes that Nathan's biological dad, Martin, is a CIA agent whom stole a listing from Kozlow along with the names of corrupted CIA operatives. Kozlow planned the website in order to find Nathan and use him as leverage to get Martin to bring back the report. Kozlow's people appear, having picked-off Nathan's conversation. Bennett informs Nathan to run away and go to a safe house in Arlington, Virginia. Karen makes the decision to accompany Nathan. Just before they go, Bennett instructs him he can only trust his father and a man named Paul Rasen, and blows up her vehicle to ease both their getaway and her very own.
They arrive at the safe house, where Nathan discovers Martin's cellular phone, including an address and photo of his biological mother, Lorna Price. Nathan and Karen find out that she has died. Nathan visits her grave and Karen notices new flowers, so she asks the custodian about the past few visitors. He reveals that the latest guest was Paul Rasen from Nebraska.
They proceed to Nebraska on the train; Kozlow's right-hand man traces them. When Karen leaves to get food, he kidnaps her and tries to take Nathan, but Nathan overpowers him and tosses him off of the train. Karen runs away and reunites with Nathan. The two leave when the train halts in reaction to Kozlow's agent's dying. Taylor Lautner takes Kozlow's agent's phone during the controversy.
Burton and his men notice the two and convince the two that they want to help. They stop at a restaurant, during which Burton informs Nathan about the list. Nathan checks Martin's cellphone and discovers the list, and it has Burton's name. Before Burton can answer, Kozlow's guys hit the diner and harm quite a few of Burton's people. They get out while Burton and his partner harm Kozlow's men.
The mobile phone starts ringing and Nathan answers it. Kozlow divulges that he is planning to kidnap Karen's dad and mom and will murder them if Nathan does not give him the list. Nathan confirms, but declares that he'll decide the place of the exchange. Nathan finds out that his dreams are attributable to repressed memories of Lorna being killed by Kozlow while attempting to save him.
Nathan chooses to transfer Kozlow the list at a Pirates baseball game, and reveals to Karen that he actually plans to kill Kozlow. Nathan receives a call from Martin who instructs him not to give Kozlow the list. Nathan ignores his advice, and tries to shoot Kozlow, who steals the weapon and aims to coerce Nathan to provide him with the list. Burton's guys, stationed through out the arena, open fire as Nathan escapes, with Kozlow following.
Martin dials Nathan and instructs him to lure Kozlow to an open vicinity. Nathan does so, and, as he prepares to kill Nathan, Martin kills Kozlow utilizing a sniper shot shot from a surrounding building. Burton's men show up and catch Nathan. On their way to CIA headquarters, Burton attempts to decode Martin's cell. However, his superiors outline that Martin has warned them that Burton would try this in order to clean out his own personal name, and Burton is detained.
Martin phones Taylor Lautner one final time and apologizes for the whole thing. He says that he will permanently be watching over Nathan, who reunites along with Karen and Bennett, who informs him that she has planned for him to dwell with her up until he graduates, at which point he would be able to move out to attend college.
